Jonathan McEuen has been a friend of AIX Records since we recorded him with his father on the award-winning Nitty Gritty Surround project. His talents then became the focus of his own AIX project…released in the late summer of 2005. At his suggestion, he wanted to do a couple more tunes…this time with his collaborator and musical partner Jaime Hanna of Hanna-McEuen. The Brand New Opry was the outgrowth of that request. With Phil Salazar, Tom Corbet, Orest Balaban, Randy Tico, Mark Searcy and his father and brother, Jonathan puts new meaning into the term Opry. This is acoustic music-making at its best, the amazing Hanna-McEuen “Lowlands” is featured. That’s the tune that launched the cousins to their current major label release, only here it’s done acoustically as a live track.
